I think it's a matter of self confidence, but many times I find myself unsatisfied when I hear back what I've played or recorded. I just put my best effort in what I do, and if it leaves me like that, I can just try bettere the next time. What do you think?
The hard thing is to find when it feels good even if it's technically not perfect. Many confuse technical skill and feel. I would argue that often when a take is technically perfect, you've lost the soul of the performance. But it's a balance.
At the end of a big effort such like mixing for hours or trying to play correctly something (but it's worse) I hate what I hear. I need fresh ears (sometimes the next day) to have a more objective judgment on my works
Hi Jeremy, if you are speaking about composition, I think that music has resonance with our mood, how we feel , what we think that of course is changing over time. So it is ok if you compose something and after some days you don't like anymore, maybe you'll like again after some more time. However asking opinion to good friends helps to have less biased view of your composition. Ciao!
Same, I spend so much time recording and mixing and I always hate the final result, I think it's bad, people usually tell me that is not bad (and after all I do have a small audience) so I think you should appreciate more what you do, not everyone writes and records a song :)
a had this feeling before but i asked why and when this happens and i found my personal answer, this happens when im tired, when my mind is tired,
my problem is what I'm trying to add more muscles on the bones of my music, but my good friend who is 50 years old musician said me one wisdom thing - Less is more. An I'm really trying to keep this rule in my music but this crazy wish to add some melody or intervals is making my music like a box full of toys where you can't find details of lego that you really need๐ so, my answer - yes!๐
I always think i perform poorly. But i usually record my gig and listen back and it's not bad.
Like all said before, barely happens. ...And i'm absolutely with Still Life๐
All the time! ๐
Way too many I would say
