Hi I'm Joe Vegna from Sweden. I work as a music producer and mixing engineer. I work with bands from all over the world, helping them get their music to sound great.
We are going through the biggest change in music history right now. And the challenge is to figure out what my (and your) role is in the future. I think it's an awesome time to work in the music industry, but that does not mean that it's easy. There are great opportunities, but it comes with a lot of work. One of the biggest challenge for many artists is to realize that they can't do everything on their own. Technically they can, but if you want to really make it you need to work with specialists in every field. If you are really good at writing and performing songs, and you work with a great producer, and a great mixing engineer, and a great mastering engineer, and a great graphic designer, and a great promotion person ... Then the sky is the limit. Collaborate, that's the key.
The obvious thing is to write and perform good songs. But just as important is you artistic expression. If you do everything the way everyone else do things, then it's extremely hard to get through the noise. Today there has to be a reason to listen to you, and having a great song is just not enough. Sadly. So tell your story, let people know who you are and what your songs are about. Then there's a reason to listen to your songs.
