in the mid 90's Simon, Simon (junior) and Warren were playing in an Essex punk pop band with drummer Sean called Blister. Playing all original songs influenced by the likes of green day, offspring and nirvana the band spent over 3 years gigging around the Essex live clubs before breaking up in 1999. Simon and Warren went on to form a dance rock band called Two way television with a female vocalist but after spending around 8 months on the project decided to call it a day without hitting the clubs. Warren spent the next few years writing and producing female singers before forming girl fronted rock goth band Trash Monroe while Simon and Junior formed comedy acoustic act Doobie snacks. Both bands gigged the Essex and london scene over the next few years and even shared the same stage on a few occasions. After leaving Trash Monroe in in 1996 Warren started writing and producing dance music and the Doobs split and the two Simons went off on various music projects. While on holiday in france in 2017 Warren played some blister songs to his 13 year old son, this prompted a face book conversation between the 4 original members and a reunion was arranged at a local rehearsal room. Sean who was now playing in a reformed pre blister band could not commit to any more than the initial session but Simon, Junior and Warren decided to re group at Warrens recording studio to record new songs with a view to a no pressure band that write and record and see what happens. the band was named DOWN SIDE UP after and old blister song.
