What is music to you? What does it give you?

Above all it's a raw form of expression for me. It's kind of like a diary, but instead of writing my everyday journal, I write down experiences that are meaningful to me. Music gives me an amazing sensation of peace. Even with sad songs, it's like meditation in a way. You can experience every emotion and then come back to a peaceful state at the end. It gives me relief and hope for a better future, and a better perspective on the past.

What is your music dream?

I'd love to sell out Maddison Square Garden one day. Performing in front of that many people would allow me to die at peak happiness.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I'd start with trying to help people feel some happiness. Not a lot of people can go a day without going without something, it's an awful feeling knowing that there's something you have to do in order to survive basically. I'd try to fix that first, the happiness factor.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Viva la Vida by Coldplay was the first song I heard and I immediately purchased it on iTunes as my first official purchase.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

One Direction ALL THE WAY!! IDGAF what people say, I love them and I'm waiting for the reunion until the day I die. Ed Sheeran inspired me to learn guitar and write my own songs. Coldplay has been apart of my life since my childhood and I will always love their music and hold it in a special place. Taylor Swift heavily influenced my learning acoustic guitar first and I'm very happy I did Kishi Bashi is my favourite indie artist and his concert was the first live I ever went to in Shibuya, Tokyo

What inspires you to make music?

I love to write and always have. I also know that I've got a lot of stories that I think people would like to hear. The majority of those stories are a lot more relatable through song rather than I just write several books on my life. I also think that music give me the chance to really put power behind the words.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Life has it's ups and downs, but no matter how much shit you go through, there's always something beautiful at the end.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

It feels like I am levitating and kind of feels like you're connected to every person in the room. If the crowd is a good crowd.
