Smith And Fischer

Smith and Fischer

I record and write music along with my wife Jackie (Smith) Fischer, I'm Tom Fischer, hence the name Smith and Fischer. I play mostly lead guitar, rhythm guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and bass. My wife plays guitar, mandolin, and sometimes sax. We both sing and write original music to hopefully share with the world. Sometimes we'll use a keyboard for virtual instruments or use a drum vst to write drum tracks. We like and play a variety of music genres as you'll probably hear. Hope you enjoy it! What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music to me is a way to express what I'm feeling. Music gives me an instant feed back to the mood I might be experiencing at the time. It gives me a way to take a journey away from the everyday trials we experience in this life.

What is your music dream?

My music dream is to just continue to be a part of the vibe that starts inside of me, to create what I'm feeling, to put into to a song and expression of a vision 'til I can no longer do it.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I don't know what the right answer is to this. I suppose I would start with taking a look at myself and see if a world would work if everyone was like me. If it wouldn't, then I guess I would have to change myself.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Baby Elephant Walk.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Marshall Tucker Band, John Mayer, Firefall, Newgrass Revival, Toni Rice, Waylon Jennings, Loggins and Messina, and lots more....

What inspires you to make music?

Creating a tune or putting thoughts into a song.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

My main message would be to enjoy life and enjoy your surroundings. Some are not as fortunate to experience the gifts that we have in this life, so in honor of them, enjoy your life to the fullest!

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Haven't done it in a while, but there is a rush in being a part of a larger group, connecting with music.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I don't know how to make a living at this, other than playing live. There are a lot of really good independent musicians putting out some really good songs for not much pay, streaming, downloads, some for free,etc... I think it would be nice if people would support the musicians, who's songs they are listening to, by paying for it some way. So few musicians seem to be able to make a living at this, that some give up the effort.

What do you think of Drooble?

Drooble seems to be a good idea. I like the feedback from other musicians and the community of like minded individuals. I think the karma seem fair and gets us to be more interactive than some would tend to be.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

After playing guitar for so many years without singing, now I'd like to be able to sing better, to help my songs sound better. Sometimes I get frustrated not getting a song to sound as good as I't like it to, but that's part of the process.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

This is where I'm lacking most. I just don't get out much anymore. I do listen to other and comment on drooble, facebook and youtube though.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Colin James from Canada.
