Music is a great part of my everyday. Somedays I only get to play for an hour or less, and other days I spend the whole day in the studio. When I'm in the studio I often loose sense of time, and though it may sound cliché, it's like therapy to me. If I'm having a bad day, playing or listening to music really helps. It's always been like that, and hopefully I will always be able to enjoy music, both as a listener and as a songwriter.
To create something I can put on the stereo at home, and be 100% proud off. I find myself as being my own worst enemy, and it's really tough for me to ever get satisfied with my releases. I usually gets to a point where enough is enough. It's the point right before I go crazy when listening to the song. I hope that hard work and lots of practice, may help me shorten the process from when I start writing a track, till it's ready to release.
I'd make people care less about money, and more about each other.
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Steven Wilson, Jeff Buckley, Muse, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, My Chemical Romance, Queens Of The Stone Age, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Veto, Underoath,
Lots of things do. Things that happens around me, good as bad. Things people say, and do. But sometimes I can just look at my guitar or my drums, and ideas start to pop up.
Well.. I don't have a lot of political statements in my music. Very few if any. But I hope that people can relate to my songs, and that may help them tackle some of the things they're dealing with, good as bad. Music has always been there to help me through tough times, and to enjoy in the good ones. I hope this music can do the same for others.
Anxious! Usually, I don't sleep for severeal days up to a gig. I'm really not comfortable with playing live. Well, at least untill the show's over. Then I'm always like "Oh Yes!! We have to do this again soon!".
Well, I'm 28 years old, and all I can do is read about how life used to be for the big stars in the business "back then". I don't know how life used to be for upcoming artists though. All I know is that, the fact that you can write, record and release an album from your apartment - and even earn money from it - is really great. Also, I believe that the labels have better access to great artist.. they may just have to search through more sh*t to find them.
So far, it seems great! I hope it will manage to stay relevant as a social media, without getting eaten by "the big sharks".
Other musicians, who seems to be more obsessed with the price of their gear, rather than what they can do with the gear. I'd much rather listen to your music, than how expensive or modded your gear is.
I try, but honestly, most of my free nights are used in the studio. But, I do have my studio at the one of our local venues, and I pay my rent and buy my beers there. I go to concerts once or twice a year, and that's only upcoming shows. I'm not a fan of going to concerts actually.
In my opinion, nothing beats great songwriting. That's where it all starts - that's where the magic comes from.
That's a tough one as I mostly listen to widely known artists - Muse (the early stuff - up till and including 'Black Holes And Revelations'), Jeff Buckley, Steven Wilson (Hand.Cannot.Erase), Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Biffy Clyro ('Infinity Land' in particular).
