The Green Onions Band exists to carry the groove forward, always pointing back to the origins of the wonderful sounds that Booker T. & the M.G.s brought us over the years. It began when Seth Zowader had the thought of trying to pay tribute to a living legend after seeing Booker T. Jones playing the “Booker T. Stax Review” in Portland, Oregon. Seth spoke with David Cushman (bass) and then Paul Vorvick (guitar). Paul brought in C.Tyson Jones (drums) and the band began an immersive study along with rehearsals of the great songs from Booker T. & the M.G.’s. As the education focused on individual players parts, styles, groove and vibe, members of the band began to compose original works. The Green Onions Band changed direction from being a cover band, to being an original band. They keep true to the groove and styles that they have learned. This music will make you tap your feet, dance, smile and genuinely feel good.
