The Turtle Project

The Short Story

"The Turtle Project" started out as exactly that, a project, a songwriting project that was born from years of being a musician in many bands, doing countless gigs, naturally gathering experience and inspiration until, one day, I stumbled upon the fact that I could actually put those experiences and many others into words. The composing aspect grew from that into what it is today ... My way of life .

What is music to you? What does it give you?

In a nutshell music is everything to me, its my life, it's pretty much all I ever do and all I ever want to do. It gives me an escape from reality and a canvas to speak from the heart.

What is your music dream?

To reach people that can relate to my songs in a way that it may help them somehow

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

peoples attitudes, if we change our attitudes to the way we see the world we can change anything

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

mmmm, It's probably "Don't You Want Me" by Human League. showing my age now ha ha

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Marillion, Pink Floyd, Rush, Ozric Tentacles, Gorillaz, Eminem, Flobots, Massive Attack, Hanz Zimmer, to mention a few but there are so many more.

What inspires you to make music?

Life and my family and friends

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Hope and perseverance and general good feelings

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Well I don't perform anymore because I am a solo artist these days, just writing and recording in my studio, but I used to perform a lot when I was a Piano/Synth player in many bands and it feels great to get real time feedback from a crowd of people who appreciate what you are doing, it's a buzz you can't replicate anywhere else, loved it

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

It's easier to get your music out there these days for people to hear so that's good, but, it's hard because of the same reason, as there is so much traffic and it's easy to get lost in the crowd. On the business side of things it is very hard to make a living with the whole streaming thing as the payments are so low. I think that could be improved significantly without the companies going under if you ask me

What do you think of Drooble?

Well I,m new here at the minute but I do like the look of the whole platform and interested to see how it goes

What frustrates you most as a musician?

If I ever run out of ideas for a song, that frustrates me. But also the way it seems to get seen as "not a real job" that really frustrates me. It's like people think songs just magically appear from the cosmos or something so they get taken for granted instead of respected

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I used to go to gigs all the time but they are few and far between these days around here. I do support a lot of people online that I have become close with over the last few years. I always like to keep on top of what they are doing and giving support for there cause

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Honesty and realism is the biggest thing I think, talent helps of course, but people skills is a biggie in this day and age of the digital scene
