Tanner Schantz

Story

I came from a small country town and moved to the big city. I started late in the game to learn how to play the guitar and even later writing songs. However, the passion for expression has never died and music has been a wonderful channel to flow through. Since 2011, I've chosen to do go down a road full of frustration and fun to find the best guitar tones and song tunes. I would like to say that my songs get better with time, others may disagree, but every song points to where I am in life in one particular moment. If you dig this journey I'm on, feel free to like and share my stuff, I would greatly appreciate it!

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music to me is a creative outlet, a means of expression. From getting raw emotions out to storytelling, music is the platform where you can come out of hiding and share your feelings, ideas, and thoughts and be heard openly rather than being drowned out by the constant noise. Music, therefore, gives me joy in the release. Music is a way to get out what is in my head and in my heart, to let out the good and the bad with a jubilant notion.

What is your music dream?

My music dream is the write the perfect song. That dream is also a double-edged sword: It is always strived for, yet never obtained. But in that dream, it's the journey that makes the dream so sweet, not the destination.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Myself. Why would I expect change if I refuse to be a better human being?

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

A lot of hymns stick out the most: Amazing Grace, Jesus Paid it All, Count Your Blessings, and Victory in Jesus to name a few.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Switchfoot. Needtobreathe. Relient K. The Oh Hellos. David Crowder* Band. Keane. Kings of Leon. Silversun Pickups. The Eagles. The Strokes. Coldplay. The Beatles. Radiohead. Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats.
