Static Music

Described as “an alternative/hard rock power frenzy", Static are an energetic power trio from Essex playing dirty riffs, wailing vocals and fuzzy bass over heavy drums. Drawing influences from the likes of Nirvana, Biffy Clyro, Rage Against The Machine and Muse, Static are stunning crowds with their immensely energetic and hard hitting performances. With new EP ‘Disguise’ out now, Static are looking to take the next step in their music career with many more gigs and brand new material.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

It's life. There's no other way expressing ourselves other than with the freedom of music.

What is your music dream?

Just to play and do it for a living.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Doing away with bigotry by forcing the media to only tell the truth. No one should be forced to believe in whatever they're told.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Nirvana, Radiohead, RATM, David Bowie (obviously), Muse, Biffy Clryo, Gang of Four... like... LOADS!

What inspires you to make music?

The musical voices in our heads.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

We just want to inspire people like other musicians have done for us. We want people to know they're not alone, everyone has problems which they can overcome.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

There is no other feeling. The goosebumps you get from that first bit of amp feedback and the noise of a crowd - just... amazing.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

It's f*cking hard - it always has been, sure - but now it's even harder to get noticed because charts and the media tell people what they want to hear.

What do you think of Drooble?

Definitely has potential. Musicians need all the help they can get so it's great to see.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Lack of help and promotion.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Of course! We network with as many musicians and promoters as we can and have supported many bands that we've met along the way. Hell, Jake even runs his own independent music blog about some of the local bands that we love.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

It's the star quality and be able to push boundaries. Nothing gets an audience more excited than a band that have that passion to stand up and be heard and seen. Energy and confidence are a musicians biggest tool.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Juncture who are from South London - proper punk rock trio. Charles & The Big Boys - London based - kinda like a mix between Nirvana/Siouxsie and the Banshees/Bowie/Blondie. Very unique band with an incredible amount of talent. Katie MF - London folk/rock - they're just amazing. Deep lyrics, very kind of Irish knees up punk! To be honest, we know LOADS. Ask us a genre and we'll probably know someone!
