Samuel Willford


Galaxy Blue is the stage name for Samuel Willford, who grew up learning to play drums and guitar. He started recording at age 17, and just released his first album "Til Death Do Us Part" last year at age 19.






What is music to you? What does it give you?

A passion that conveys meanings and ideas beyond your wildest dreams.

What is your music dream?

I haven't had any dreams lately, but sometimes I have this dream where I'm in a storm and running away. It's hardly music related.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

My town.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

"The Voice" by the Moody Blues

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

The Moody Blues, particularly Justin Hayward The Beatles The Ready Set

What inspires you to make music?

Everything and everyone around me.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Peace, love, and a happy life.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

At first I find myself concentrating on not messing up, but about halfway through I realize I'm actually having fun.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

There's a lot more competition today than there was 30 years ago because of computers and home studios. Nearly everyone gets a chance to record or perform if they want it.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

playing a B flat in first position on an acoustic guitar with high action.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I've been to an open mic night or two.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Good music?
