What is music to you? What does it give you?

I grew up basically mute due to a less than ideal upbringing, leaving me isolated and terrified/bitter with the world. As a young girl I used songwriting to communicate with myself and others without direct confrontation. Music to me is a solace, a therapist and a best friend. It is always there to listen and say exactly what I need to hear.

What is your music dream?

Because of the emotional impact that music played in my development, Id like to use music as a source of permission to feel authentic emotions and allow listeners to awaken themselves to acceptance and empowerment of their true nature. My dream is to have a crowd stop to hear me busk out an original song that changes the way they see the rest of their day.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

My father and I used to sit in a old diner called "Lido's cafe" in the Kensington area of Calgary, AB in the very early years of my life. "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker, out of an old jukebox, would consume any and all pocket change, worth more than that in the sentiment that song would bring. I would move on to find my vocal range and power with my rendition of this song, after pumping it amidst many karaoke parties in local pubs and friends' garages.

What inspires you to make music?

I sit down and write a song every single day. Anytime that inspiration hits; every experience is an opportunity to write a song: any stimuli that evokes an emotional reaction can be used as a valid excuse to turn it into art.
