Solid Rock Blues Band

Story

Solid Rock Blues Band is a solo project by Rudy. With the help of other musicians, songwriters and family who join me on a regular base on my musical travel trough life. Playing guitar and writing songs since my 16th. Been in a New Wave band and a Classic Rock cover band. Play in a worship band during Church services these days. I play acoustic and electric guitar as well as (some) bass guitar. I started recording music at home using my computer back in 2000. Over the years I've build a small home studio. At the studio I record my own songs and I've also recorded and produced several (demo) tracks and albums for others.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

For me it's (of course) a way to express myself. But also the best waste of time I know!

What is your music dream?

As long as some people listen and enjoy it I'm happy

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

It's impossible to change the way of the world I'm afraid. It would be nice if people were honest, less selfish and would share their wealth more equal.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

It would be a song in Dutch, called "Kom van dat dak af" by Peter Koelewijn. It's a fun, rocking, song and I still like how he managed to pull that off.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Band, U2, Larry Norman, Lou Reed, The Cure, Fischer Z, Rainbow, Laurence Jones, Samantha Fish, and many, many others.

What inspires you to make music?

Everything around me, family, nature, articles I read, my religion, social issues

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Think about it.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

It's cool - I've been doing solo sets, played in a rockband, church worship band. I just like playing my guitar!

What do you think of Drooble?

I think at this point Drooble is offering good services though of course there are always things that could be improved.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I visit concerts, I make myself available as photographer to some of them, I organise concerts (together with my daughter who is a singer-songwriter and music teacher). I also operate a small home studio where some bands and solo singers have recorded demo's and I'm doing this for free or a small fee if it's a commercial project.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Talent, obviously, and perseverance.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

David Philips, Laurence Jones, Lauren O'Connell, Orit Shimoni.
