Robert Manella

A musician wanting to make a statement about the world and maybe share some life experience

Hi, I'm Robert, a musician that is looking to work on two music projects. One project being a political punk rock sound. My other project being more acoustic and kind of dark. I've been playing guitar since high school and trying to get into bass guitar as well as drums and vocals. I'm trying to work on my own demo with someone I know but, I know if something goes somewhere with what I'm going to do, I'm going to need people to fill in roles for my punk rock project.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

To me, music is everything, it’s every feeling you can have and you spill it out. Like you can be mad about politics and put it out there to voice your opinion. Or you can share your feelings or personal story on a song. You can put anything out there whether it’s popular or not.

What is your music dream?

Just making my first demo with someone.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Putting ideas in the form of music and just going out there to say how it is. Get rid of the corruption, the dishonorable, and false factored politicians. As being a part of the youth, we have to challenge the corruption.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Most memorable song might be Back in Black, because that was my first AC/DC album and song that I loved on a CD.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Favorite anything is anything Dave Grohl does now, he changes up the sound of the albums but, keeps an identity of the band he performs with. Whether it’s Foo Fighters or Crooked Vultures.

What inspires you to make music?

Just listening and playing guitar, sometimes lyrics writing comes to a factor.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Political statements with one project and possibly life stories with the other project.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Haven’t really did like a real performance but, when I play guitar it keeps me calm.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I don't think musician are really challenged, there's a lot of digital help with music these days and I just want to make it to a point where I can kind of just make music where it's not completely perfect and it's human. Kind of making music on tape.

What do you think of Drooble?

I don't know what to think of it yet. It's still something to explore.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The lack of collaborating, I would like to find locals to have ideas and share with others.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I try to when I have the chance, sometimes like I might go into NYC with friends and go to a show.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

I hate saying it but, YouTube is like the best way. I hate the platform because, it's so censored but, so many use it.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Well, I know someone from Cleveland that is doing his own kind of 80s rock kind of sound. Most may know him as Corey Rotic from WMMS as a radio DJ but, I am kind of looking to work with him a bit as well. Personally, I know him and is a pretty cool guy.
