Starting over and doing it my way...
Music is and has always been my safe harbor. It is my outlet and my hideaway simultaneously.
I may have already lived it. Performing and being recognized was my dream but recent events with my associates have opened my eyes to new aspirations . In short, I am a writer. A lyricist. My aspirations now are to create, produce, and ultimately be recognized for my words and music. Mine and mine alone...
The homeless problem right here in my own country. Fellow veterans who are sleeping on the street and that are not receiving the care and attention they earned.
"Your Song" ~ Elton John My family did not have a lot of money and growing up in Kentucky sometimes options can be limited. I distinctly remember spending a lot of time at the local library. Reading mostly... until they put in a couple old record players and donated albums. I would sit for hours with headphones on and listen to Elton John, James Taylor, ect.. But "Your Song" was by far my favorite at the time.
That is question that could go on forever so I will be a little broad in my answer. I grew up in the 80's and did the whole Glam Rock garage band scene. So in that period I would say: Van Halen, Def Leppard, Journey and so on. However I was always a lover of the story-teller. I began listening to 70's artist such as Elton John, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Davis. In the last 20 years I have fallen back on my Eastern Kentucky roots and to the Country music I heard as a young boy. Today's Country artist that I find most relatable would be Chris Stapleton, Jamey Johnson, Cody Jinks... there is one obscure Country/Fold artist that passed before he could really be appreciated and is getting a lot of playtime on my Spotify. The great singer-songwriter Blaze Foley.

I genuinely have no message that I feel the need to send. I have gone that route and am no longer interested in being "boxed-in" I create for myself and if people dig it then God bless them...
It's an absolute high as long as you're doing it for the right reason.
