What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is a language, a universal language that is spoken by the universe itself, capable of being defined mathematically and understood emotionally. Music gives me access to a kind of freedom of self-expression that isn't even possible with words alone.

What is your music dream?

To travel the world playing music with others, learning the different styles of music that the different parts of the world has, and spreading those styles, incorporating them into my own music. Meeting locals and learning their languages through teaching and collaborating musically. Bringing about a possibility where music can be a positive force in revolutionizing communities across the globe by destroying boredom, loneliness, aggression, depression, and hate by replacing them with a sense of fun, community, collaboration, enjoyment, and Love. Creating events for people to learn the art of jamming, extemporization, and collaboration, a new kind of music scene, which revolves around more than just listening to music, but actually playing it. I want it to have workshops and bonfires and concerts and drum circles, and I want it on any scale from my backyard to the park to your farm to Black Rock City to it's own private/public venue. Having my own farm/venue/hostel/studio/school/temple/home where anyone can come at anytime to play music or create art in a collaborative setting. I want to rock out to an audience of trees and plants whose fare is food. I want to create a setting to introduce people to being on a stage, performing for an audience, and getting into the groove, a unique kind of club for masters and beginners to share the floor. I want it to be able to house wayward and traveling artists and enable them to create themselves as an independent, self-reliant individual. I want to turn starving artists into thriving stars. I want to circumvent the music industry that controls the market today. I want to host the building for artists to teach their craft, to have a place of learning, where the starting artist can look for direction and the master crafter can come for the latest tips on the craft. I want to create an environment that fosters intense creative flowstates where artists can lose themselves to their art. I want to live there, and I want it to run 24/7, so you could make music at any time. I want it to be somewhere that will never call out a 'noise complaint'. I want to play music with you.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Everyone can play music. I would teach them.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

The ocean waves, splashing against the beach and jamming with the whistling wind as it softly blows through gently rocking palm trees. The songs of nature. The buzzes of bugs.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

My favorite artists are the ones I see in person, the bands I play in and play with, and the ones that play out. My favorite music is live. Whatever I happen to hear in the moment.

What inspires you to make music?

Good vibes, bad vibes, funky vibes, sunny days, blue skies, starry nights, stormy weather A good night, a bad day, a fuzzy dream, a long nights' sleep, a beautiful hike, an urban skate, The birds chirping, the cicadas humming, the crackle of a bonfire, the sipping of a stream Anything at all, nothing at all, Everything, All.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Changes in every moment. Music is a message.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Liberated, 'high', emotional, responsive and responsible, free, alive. Nirvana

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

The best way to learn music is to create it with others. However today we are barred from that experience until we become capable enough on our own, yet the primary path for doing that is reproducing the music of others, with little guidance as to how music actually operates, or how to express ourselves. We get pigeon-holed into a specific style or feel, using borrowed emotions and feelings, and by the time we become exposed to other musicians, we seek those that reciprocate the specific style that we ourselves have developed. We need to support eachother. We need to create environments for music to happen organically, where people can learn from eachother and share ideas. We need to become polyglots, appreciating and being able to speak a variety of styles, and learning how to fuse those styles in interesting ways is the future of music. We need to make music more accessible, and we need to revolutionize the industry to actually benefit the artists in ways such that they can afford to boost themselves while having the time to create their art. We need to value the artistic expression that everyone is capable of producing, and the very human need to have an artistic outlet.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far I think it is a good site, with the capacity to be so much more.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The difficulty I have finding other musicians and the challenges of creating a situation for us to jam together. Ideally I want to jam everyday and lately I've been getting by on music from my laptop. I want to jam with real humans. I want to feel that emotional connection.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I go to shows as frequently as I can, I buy music (whenever possible) when it really resonates with me or it is something I really want to jam to, I support artists on social media, and I yearn to contribute in much larger ways.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

A message that needs to be heard, a song that addresses the roots of issues that face society as a whole, a willingness to accept the responsibility of a message that will be heard by millions, and a sense of the need to wield that responsibility for a benefit beyond their own.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Saturn (The Planet) The Solar System (It's an orchestra, really local one) The 52 hz Whale (Beautiful Bassist/Vocalist) Pistol Shrimp (Why are Percussionists always so loud?) An Autumn Forest (A Woodwind group) Cuddlefish (if you're into mosaics) Elephants (They blow a mean piece of brass) There are some pretty good humans ones too.
