Story

Started in music at 9 years old. Have played many well known venues. Have been under a record contract with a well known label. Have opened for some very well known bands and have played with some people who are nationally known today. These days I am happy to pursue my real love which is simply to write music. In my dreams, one day someone will pick up one of my songs and use it in some way even if that is just for a one time soundtrack shot on a weekly TV show for instance! I have already heard my music on the radio which is a real treat for me; actually a pretty amazing experience! I love music and it has been my only God given gift in my lifetime!!

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music has been a huge part of my life since childhood. So many of my memories are associated with music. Hence music helps me to actually define myself.

What is your music dream?

I suppose I am not like many. I do not seek to be famous. My dream would be to have someone hear one of my creations, appreciate it and make it part of some soundtrack or something like that for instance; a kind of "from behind the scenes" approach; recognition as a songwriter.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Historically people have always been so cruel to one another. I would want to change that most of all; be kind to one another.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

That's a tough one because there are so many. I performed in a kid version of West Side Story once. One of my songs is derived from that "Somewhere". and then you could add Tonight, Maria, Something's Coming just for the fun of it.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

I am sorry but that is just too many to name. My parents loved all music and were musicians who loved everything from Classical to hard core rock. I do not have a favored genre because of that so this is an impossible question for me to answer. In my own songwriting, I honestly try and mix it up a bit. I try to make every song I write just a little different from the last one I wrote.

What inspires you to make music?

Music is my ONLY God given talent. The only thing that has come easily and naturally for me. I played a song the first time I picked up a guitar for instance. Notice I did not say I played that song very well but with time....(smile).

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Life it beautiful. It may have it's ups and down but it is always worth picking yourself back up, learning from your mistakes and giving it another try!

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I am a bit of a perfectionist so how well I am prepared makes a big difference in my performance enjoyment.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Probably very frustrating for most especially if you are trying to make a complete life out of it. But just keep at it. Keep improving yourself. The more you work at it, the better it all gets.

What do you think of Drooble?

Basically I like it quite a bit. There are some improvements that I think could be made. I am currently in the process of discussing this with the Drooble folks.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

So many are so interesting in their own self promotion, it gives them very little time to appreciate others. That's OK though, that's human.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I go out and listen to many artists who stick to their original music. One of my greatest thrill in life is discovering someone who is really good at it.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Endurance and focus; LOL

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Monte Montgomery, Guy Forsythe, and Hamilton Loomis are just a couple of many.
