Rewth

Story

Rewth is an independent costarrican singer/songwriter. Her sound has been influenced by pop and soul subgenres such as dreampop, alt pop and psychedelic soul. Because she has felt the great impact a song can have in one’s life, she wants others to experience the same through her music, so her goal is to create meaningful songs that can deeply impact, inspire and resonate with her audience... songs that are able to transcend time and space. Rewth began her Music Composition & Arrangement studies in 2015 and released her debut EP "Kaleidoscope" on June 21st, 2019, project that she developed alongside producer Ale Fdz. Her newest single "Polaroid" released on September 21st, it was recorded at Sweet Home Studios (Escazú, Costa Rica) and mastered by Drew Lavyne at A.L.L. Digital Mastering Studio (NYC, USA). This song's sound is a blend of retrowave/synthwave elements and the artist's characteristic style: soft dreamy vocals, and deeply metaphoric lyrics.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

To me, music is a way to people's hearts. It's a type of language. It has given me so much throughout my life, there have been songs that have deeply touched my soul, that have gotten me through rough phases and problems, some other songs have always inspired me to be better and to create.

What is your music dream?

My music dream? Well, I guess mine is to create music that can be relevant to someone at a specific moment in time (and why not? maybe relevant through their whole life!). To compose songs that are gonna be there with people when their heart aches, when they need peace, when they want to reconnect with God, when they've lost hope and want to be inspired once again. I want to do what other musicians have (unconsciously or indirectly) done for me through their art.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

With myself... that's where the change begins, one cannot aim to change the world without first aiming at our own selves :)

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

I have a bunch of them, and the list would go on and on, but the ones that came into my mind right when I read the question were: - "Alabayeye" by 95Norte (This one was my first favorite song, I think I was 1-2 y/o at the time) - "It Is You" by Newsboys (I loved this song! Little I knew this band was gonna have a huge impact and influence on me in my adolescence and for the rest of my life)

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Bands: MUTEMATH, Newsboys (The Peter Furler era and the John James era), Eisley, Earthsuit, and Steve Taylor & The Perfect Foil, The Marías. Artists: Peter Furler, Paul Meany, Stacy DuPree-King, Steve Taylor, Alice Phoebe Lou, Helado Negro.

What inspires you to make music?

Being able to create new and beautiful sounds, to see a song being born and grow up to be released and played live... but mainly God and what He does in/with my life is what inspires me to make music :)

What is the message you want to send with your music?

The one the listener is needing at the specific time he/she is playing my music. It could be empowerment, love, hope, peace, relaxation... anything positive.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Quite nervous, but I also feel excited and free? it's hard to describe my exact feelings when I'm on stage!

What do you think of Drooble?

I think it's a great tool for us newbies out there, that are trying to be discovered and heard. Also, it's cool to have a social network special for musicians where we can support and help each other, and share our work with the community as well ?
