Story

I play acoustic gigs as RavenSong. I am a musician/singer/songwriter that has been performing and writing songs since the late 1980s. I am also the lead female vocalist and rhythm guitar player for Sure Thing. I can tell you what I feel and describe how it resonates with me, but for me to attempt tell my story that's where it becomes difficult for me to shrink it to a reasonable length. The short version. Music is what makes me feel alive and gives me a reason for living! Sit back and enjoy the ride!

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music  The word itself strikes a chord in my heart.  It is the communication of the soul.  It is the essence of me that is tangible.  It is the voice of the wind and the heartbeat of the earth.  So when you ask what is music I can truly say.  I am music and music is me.  K. What is your music dream?

To have as many people hear my songs as possible and play for the people who "get it". ... I would love to be on the radio... especially sattelite or internet radio because that's where the good stuff gets played!

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Myself

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

The Old Rugged Cross - My dad was very religious and he used to sit at the piano and sing hymns and I would sing with him. I was drawn to music and my father taught me everything he could. My first performance was in church when I was 4 years old. My dad played piano and I sang this song.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

It's a large ecclectic list from all genres.

What inspires you to make music?

Everything! It's my catharsis!

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Love... all kinds... especially self love and acceptance.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Amazing! Like it's what I was born to do!

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Less gigs due to COVID19 - More outdoor shows and venues...

What do you think of Drooble?

I really like the platform.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Gender bias... many assume that me being a woman make me less credible, intelligent, musical, capable or talented. I refuse to sexualize myself or my art and want the music to stand on it own merit...

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Support my musician peers by attending their shows, promoting their shows and working with various artists on projects. Even help them set up or tear down for a gig.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Stubborn perseverance and flexibility in addition to musical talent!

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.
