Ralph Tomaselli

I’d have to say my life is built around my music, even though I’m not making the money on my songs yet, key word yet, I am still doing what I love... writing songs and playing my instruments and saying something, whether instrumentally or vocally and it’s what keeps me going. I cannot imagine living in this world without doing what I was born to do!! I’ve been playing since 3rd grade, clarinet, got bored , learned sax, then picked up bass guitar, basic guitar chords and piano... played in all bands my entire life, all school bands, including marching band in high school and jazz and symphony band in college... But I am a Rocker for the most part as I’ve been in rock bands since a senior in high school. I’ve always been a part of the songwriting process and knew I would be the sole writer for my original band Alexa’s Wish (named after my first daughter), in which I sang and played bass, which produced 4 albums, was played on several radio stations, had songs on a television series called fire rescue, opened up for several 80’s rock bands; great white, dio, quiet riot, l.a. guns, the plimsouls, dokken, ratt, crash test dummies,... we also had our song didn’t get to say goodbye dedicated to all the 911 victims and families on Los Angeles radio station 95.5 KLOS... it was a great ride but I haven’t stopped writing at all and now I do my own thing and will never stop!! I write about what goes on around me, people and their actions and how I’m affected by our society and my fans/followers can totally relate... I just can’t stop doing what I’m doing and I never will!! My site is www.ralphtomaselli.com if interested in knowing anymore about me... life is what we make it, just do something about it and be happy!!! I I write from the heart and soul of who I am...

What is music to you? What does it give you?

music is what makes this world go round! if I didn't have this passion to write I wouldn't survive.. It gives me a chance to tell the world how I feel and how I relate to what goes on all around me!

What is your music dream?

to have a hit song and finally be heard and known for who I really am and make a difference in the world!

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

no politics!

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Chicago's if you leave me now

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Chicago, Cheap trick, STP, Duran Duran, Steely Dan

What inspires you to make music?

Life, People, Feelings, Emotions - saying what needs to be said, either lyrically or instrumentally... every song tells a story and I like to do just that!

What is the message you want to send with your music?

that this life is short, say and do what you need to do in it and don't let anyone affect your true inner self - be you and be the best you can be - oh and watch out for those who aren't who they're supposed to be - ignore the ignorant... love everybody else!!

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

like I'm on top of the world - I'm quite the ham and love getting people motivated and involved in my music. I'm very animated, fans have said, so I keep giving the people what they want (kinks :)

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I think expression of one's ability is so important these days and to be able to express yourself and be heard musically is a powerful thing - drooble gives us musicians that chance and is GREATLY Appreciated!!!

What do you think of Drooble?

It Frickin' Rocks!!! Enough said ")

What frustrates you most as a musician?

how there's too many so-called artists out there, (hence the name of one of my songs), that don't know shit (excuse me) bout music, pollutes the airwaves with crap, and can't create their own music with their own imagination. It really pisses me off.. sorry to be blunt but I'm just being truthful. I think those of us that have this god given talent, write our own material and believe in ourselves should have a better chance of making a living than those so not deserving... there, I've said it!!

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

yes, true artists to their craft... absolutely!!

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Know what the hell they're doing and not just press a button and say they're an artist or even a musician
