Blind Salt Pythons

Story

I live in London, England. I've been song writing on and off since 2010. My first stab at song writing was when I was in my first band with some friends - sadly that didn't work out. After quite a few years away from playing guitar I picked it back up and got back in the saddle.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music takes me away from the daily grind. It's escapism for me. I love the creative process too of making something from pretty much nothing. Empty my head and let the lyrics, melodies, riffs etc come and find me.

What is your music dream?

What is my music dream? Easy to say to be hugely successful and sell out venues everywhere and anywhere and sell loads of CDs, merch etc. To be honest......I think I'd just like some people to say that they connected with songs.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Eradicate poverty Stop war Clean the oceans Educate the disadvantaged

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Bang A Gong (Get It On) - T. Rex

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Blur, Oasis, The Enemy, Kasabian, Sex Pistols, The Beatles, Nirvana, Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Stereophonics, Cream, T. Rex, The Who, The Jam, Paul Weller, JOANovARC, Troy Redfern, Alan Dreezer, Pretty Addicted

What inspires you to make music?

Proving a point to myself - haha!

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Live life, no regrets, have fun.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Never performed in front of an audience!

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I'm not a musician as such, but of those I know, they're not making much from the streaming platforms. Gigs, merch and online lessons are important revenue streams. The economies of scale are not in the favour of a smaller band/artist though. There are probably a whole host of other things that could be improved.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far, so good. Only just signed up.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Poor discipline for practicing. Plus a lack of support from those whose opinion you value.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

There's not many venues where I live and I'm not really aware of any local scene for original music. If there was I'd support it. If I owned a pub/bar I'd create a local scene :-)

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Networking, marketing and content creation. You need to get your music heard and to do that you need to grab the attention of the audience. Every social media platform needs to be utilised. It's almost a full time job in itself. With a strategy and a plan it can be done. Don't be fake though. People will see right through you.
