To me, music is a language. It is the most efficient way to communicate human emotion and personality I know. I can tell more about a person by playing a few songs with them than by chatting for hours. It's a chance to connect.
To write songs that someone can connect with and enjoy.
Put on my shoes. If you know something needs to be done, do it. You start your day with your first accomplishment and then find he next thing that needs to be done. Start small and work you way up! I am not big enough to change the world but I can have a positive impact on my neighborhood, town, county, state and so on. Musically, I connect and try to support local talent.

Too many to list. I'm definitely partial to guitar players from Texas.....probably because I am one.
It's what I do.
Depends on the song. Sometimes there is no message and it's a few minutes of escape from daily life.
Happy as hell!
I think that the emphasis you looks/image outweighs artistry and musicianship far too often in our culture. I'ts too bad but the fact that good music is accessible without going through traditional corporate channels helps counteract that trend.
Very cool. It relates to my previous answer.
Intonation!! Tune your instrument!
Show up to shows. Don't ask o be on a list or ask for freebies ->PAY THE COVER!! Share their event on social media. If I have a sub or someone sitting in for the night, I mention their band and when they'll be playing the venue next.
Good music. Market themselves with a plan in place.
