Nihilaeth

Bio

Listening to metal since I’m 10 years old, I started to play music by taking lesson of bass guitar when i was 14. Back then, I enjoyed playing easy metal songs but the fun doesn’t go really far. So i started to write music on Tuxguitar (Linux time) and it got me. Since then, I never stopped writing songs. When I was in high school, I learned more about music, and discovered interesting genre like classical, jazz, soundtrack… At 18, i got my first electric guitar, an Ibanez RGA8. So i started to record songs with real recordings (thank you, Guitar Pro but you sound bad ^^). The universe of sound engineering slowly opened to me. I started to produce at least one release per year (except in 2015) to get skills. It was the time I tried electronic music. Every year I challenge myself to do a better release. Nihilaeth is an experiment of djent/math metal with atmospheric spacey sounds influenced by retro synthwave and emotional electronic artists (LORN, SURVIVE). It’s all about feelings and perception, a journey from human social thought to pure metaphysics. My name is Jordan Burnet, i’m a french dude who like to compose musics and create images on his computer. All music’s and arts are made by me.

Been able to make my own Studio to record myself and other peoples who need it.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Wow, maybe starting to give empathy to everyone. Like a huge ammount of it. We really need it!

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

I think i see to many times the live version of Falling Away From Me of KoRn. But it's higly dethroned by Flying Whales of Gojira.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

For metal, i'd say Vildhjarta(but Meshuggah is also very high for me). For electronic music, it's definitely Lorn.

What inspires you to make music?

Life obviously? But i'm a sad music listener, so all sad things in life like injustice, depression...

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Depend on the music, but i'm very attached to talk about questioning ourself, seeing the demon in us. Been able to understand that we're also the problem.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Very bad ^^. This is why i prefer to do music behind my computer. I'm not really a social person.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Being musician means that you have to struggle between your passion, and the way you survive with it. I think it's time for the modern world to recognize art as a real work.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far the best place for musician on the internet !

What frustrates you most as a musician?

My mix. I can't really being satisfied. Mostly because i ask myself too much.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Yes and no. I like and listen to local band. But i only did it behind my desk. So i don't think it's a real support...

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Too much. Especially about internet and computer. It's a science now. Or a nice amount of money to pay someone.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.
