Thank you for listening :)
Composing, producing , and listening to music is a daily emotional outlet and mental exercise for me. I enjoy discovering the sound of my final mixes and connecting to others through my work and creativity.
In my songs I try to connect with the listener's feelings. My dream is for my listeners to feel whatever emotions I poured into my work, whether it be happy or sad. I hope that a multitude of people will listen to my music so I can bring them satisfaction to new people.
I would want everybody in developing countries to got to bed with a full stomach/clean water, roof over their heads, and unalienable rights to protect them from government persecution.
My mom told me that when I was only 2 years-old, "We will rock you" by Queen starting playing on the radio; apparently I stopped everything that I was doing to listen to the song intently, even ignoring my food and toys until the song was over. I guess music has always had a strong effect on me.
My mom used to put headphones on her stomach when she was pregnant with me and play me classical music every day; now it's hard to say who is my favorite, but I really enjoy Chopin and Bach. Growing up I really liked Jimi Hendrix and any Hard Rock or Metal. Blink 182 was my favorite band in high school but I also listened to a lot of pop (like The Chainsmokers) and indie/folk music. Before college started, I started to get into dance music and EDM (Marshmello and Zedd). Since college, Hip-Hop has been my main course (Lil Uzi Vert , Playboy Carti, the Weekend).
I have always been inclined to write music because I felt like it helped my control my emotions; I could leave all of my sadness in a song that I wrote on guitar, or bring myself joy by singing a love song I made in my head. At first, I didn't know anything about music theory or production, but I kept with it because ultimately it made me happy. The fact the Skrillex did everything on a laptop made me feel like I could make real music too. I started making songs in Garageband when I was 12 (using my mom's computer), and transitioned to Logic Pro X when I got my own laptop high-school.
It depends on what's happening in my life because I want my music to be genuine. If I'm going through a hard time, then my music will reflect that. I want to send the message that you are not alone with your feelings in this world.
I will admit that getting up on stage can initially be nerve-wrecking, but as soon as I am in front of a crowd I feel all the nervousness convert into excitement about my work. It's like I leave my body and a more charismatic version of myself takes over.
COVID-19 has had a terrible impact on the income of musicians and their ability to preform. However, we still create because we love
Drooble is awesome! I'm glad that musicians can connect so easily.
Writer's Block. One day I'll be singing along in the car to a song I wrote, and the next day I think it sounds sub-par. It can be discouraging at times, especially when I'm already stressed with work or school. I am thankful for the network of other musicians and artists that encourage me to keep progressing.
I wish I could go to shows to support my favorite artists as a fan, but alas, COVID-19 has won again.
I wish I had the answer. You can't do it alone, so having good social skills is a must. As a musician, I know that my image can strongly influence people I have never met, so I want to be a good example to others.
