Nancy Staggs

Bio

Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Nancy Staggs grew up with an obvious influence of country music, although she knew it wasn't her style all along. As a child, she soaked up every ounce of jazz and blues she could find. Finally discovering Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James was a true turning point in her musical identity. From then on, she was a true jazz and blues singer. Nancy studied Vocal Performance and Business Administration at Ole Miss. During this time, she participated in numerous choirs and performed in operas. She received many awards, including Ole Miss Idol Winner. She was also recognized for vocal excellence by The National Association of Teachers of Singers (NATS). Nancy also studied Music Education at Belmont University School of Music in Nashville. In pursuit of the timeless expression of jazz and blues, Nancy moved to New Orleans, LA, in 2008, where she finally found her musical “home."
