My Name Is Trip

Official Introduction

What's up guys, "My Name Is Trip", I do all that nice little Electronic Music composition and production. This project here is called "My Name Is Trip" but you guys can official call me "Trip". I'm sure there are others who identify as the same in the world of music, but I'm just one in a billion out there putting myself into the mix and hoping to reach hearts and minds.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

A sense of belonging and peace in such a fierce world. I feel like life is moving way to quickly and we got all these problems on top of problems and it's just a big hot mess, but music really helps me to get away from that. It's an escape.

What is your music dream?

To keep making music until I no longer can.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Everybody knowing where they come from, what to do, and what's in store for the near future. My music touches on such an inspiration.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

When I was about 8 years old in a faded maroon Chevy Nova, I remember Bushs' song "Everything Zen" playing and I remember I really loved it, that was the beginning of my introduction to Rock music and then...beyond.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Sevendust, Polarity, Lecrae, Mali Music, EDX, Bush, The Clash, Bob Marley...I"m everywhere and across the map.

What inspires you to make music?

Everything. Life.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Good vibes, reflective vibes. Music that says, I'm here to dance, but I'm also hear to reflect and chill and bob my head for a little bit and then hopefully everything will be alright and I can face the day.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I'm totally fine. It's a little nerve wrecking cause you know you don't wanna screw up your songs but, usually that's not too much of an issue because I play mainly open mics where everyone sort of works together and it's all for fun.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Faded. Disillusioned. Misguided. A good and right spirit can transcend and cut passed all of that dogmatic chaos.

What do you think of Drooble?

I like it. Although it would be great to have a pop-out player for personal profiles with songs.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

You try hard and you do your very best with your musical art and there's people who are where they are because of who they know and not because they actually have what it takes or their heart is pure.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Definitely. I love to hear local acts and promote them if it's done tastefully.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Everything that is done to get heard now is all through a misguided and fierce competitive advantage. It takes money and knowing the right people. It use to be talent, diligence and heart but now it's money and who you know.
