Music can make you focus on the minuscule, or it can open your eyes to the infinite. It can give you something to relate to, or something to escape from. Music is the great communicator. Music to me is like breathing. It simply happens as a product of my existence, as I take in the experience of life. Music gives me a chance to share this experience with you, as you share it with me, as we all share it together.
My music dream is to give to others what music has given me. I want to take this project on the road, and give people an experience. I want to create infectious ear worms that crawl into your head and never leave.
I'd start with myself, and encourage everyone else do the same. You have to be the change you want to see. Start making small differences in your personal life, and soon it will spread like a virus.
So many great songs from the 90's. Most memorable? Probably the Macarena! It was everywhere.
Most of these are listed in my influences section. I'll leave it at that because there are simply too many to name.
Everything. Life is inspiring. Everywhere you look there is balance, struggle, life, death, happiness, sadness, etc. It's all happening all around you, all the time. Look around!
The message varies, as I vary. I'm not the same from day to day. We change, and change is necessary for growth. I'd like to say, there is more out there. That we are all in this together, and we are all part of the universal source. Our time here is limited, so try not to be a dick, and don't forget to have fun, and to dance in the moonlight.
I feel liberated.
The world musicians operate in today is no doubt, very different than the world musicians of yesterday operated in. On one hand, CD sales are plummeting and making money from physical copies of music is becoming increasingly more difficult. On the other, sharing music has never been easier. It's almost effortless to get music out there these days, yet increasingly more difficult to get heard. With a saturated market, you've really got to be something special, or something niche, to stand out. Some artists combat this by selling vinyl or cassettes or other forms of physical media in limited runs. Others tour constantly to make money. Some rely on getting their sounds licensed for film, games, etc. We live in a world of endless possibility, and also endless competition. What could be improved? Streaming services paying artists more, and also fans spending more money to support the artists. Music has become almost disposable. Download it and forget it. I think people are going to have too rely more heavily on exciting live shows to draw crowds and make the money they want.
I'm brand new here, but it looks like a really great platform, and I'm glad I found it.
Myself. I walk a fine line between sterling confidence and self crippling doubt.
I do. I go to local shows, buy merchandise from the bands, and try to connect with them as people. Buying merchandise is super helpful to up and coming artists. Often times, smaller shows don't bring a lot of money. Once there is gas in the van, and everyone is fed, there may not be much left over. Those few shirt sales could mean the difference between them making it to the next town and sleeping in a hotel, or staying in the van another night.
Today's musicians need charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent. You have to be tenacious, and self motivated. To be heard by a larger audience, share your music more places! Be more proactive. Is your music on all streaming platforms? Why or why not? Often times we are the only ones holding ourselves back.
Mammoth Indigo are buddies of mine from CA, definitely worth listening to. the Wormholes are friends of mine from NC, and they are a real treat to see live. both have new albums out that I highly recommend.
