Mister Hand

Story

I'm a mix of things. Established musician, self-imposed philosopher, loner and privateer; a natural home-body. My humor is risque while my sincerity, almost demanding. And I'm mostly quiet, reserved, and collective. As a discreet observer, I won't tell you about my day until it's just about over with. Given my broad taste(s) in music, I'd researched various aspects about musical production, composition and instrumentation. Over the years, it's what had introduced me to the instruments I play now- the Cajon, Conga, Djembe, Darbouka/Doumbek, Didgeridoo, Duduk, Middle Eastern Keyboard, and the Native American Flute. Some years ago, my talents were put to use. I'd co-found the MundoTribe project with the prominent producer/writer/composer/actor, Ben Whittier, from which I'd also established the Drum Circling Houston movement. I'd also lended a recording of my Duduk to "Christmas", an album produced by the well-known dub actor, Vic Mignogna, released in 2008. Talent-wise, I'm always on the prowl for other outlets with which to empty my musical desires. Whether I'm in-house with my own band, scouting others to sit in with, or doing something on the solo- music is my passion and hobby, and seems to be what I mostly sink my mind and teeth into. What is music to you? What does it give you?

Life. https://soundcloud.com/texasrazorback/sets/musicbyhand?ref=clipboard

What is your music dream?

I don't have dreams. I have realities.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Money, and value. I'd get rid of it, all. From everywhere.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

The one that got me started. Enigma's "Sadness". Parts one, two, and three.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Tom Waits, Peter Gabriel, Carlos Santana, Poncho Sanchez, Tito Puente, Dead Can Dance, Enigma, Ekova, Bob Marley, Black-Eyed Pease, Khaled, Cheb Mami, Rachid Taha, Yothu Yindi, Steven Kent (Lights In A Fat City/TranceMissions), Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Elton John.

What inspires you to make music?

Everything.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

You farted!

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Pretty good. Especially, when with a band.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Musicians have very little reality, these days. Plandemic circumstances kind of shut that down, for us. Unless you're independently wealthy, and already have fat recording and production contracts lined up...

What do you think of Drooble?

Dunno.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Being stifled.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Not really.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Independent wealth and/or fat recording and production contracts.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Dead Can Dance, Enigma, Ekova, Khaled, Cheb Mami, Rachid Taha, Yothu Yindi, Steven Kent (Lights In A Fat City/TranceMissions).
