Story

Mike Borgia is an Italian American singer-songwriter with over two decades of experience as a professional musician and performer. Born in New York, Mike spent his teens playing clubs as guitarist and backup singer in a progressive metal band. His style slowly evolved to include other genres, notably punk and indie rock, and from 1990s into the early 2000s he fronted the popular indie rock band “Tread.” In 2001 Mike embarked on a solo career and over the next decade performed several tours of the UK while releasing nine solo records and over 15+ collectively. His UK tours garnered him a loyal fanbase which allowed him to maintain a steady career as a touring recording artist. In 2011 he formed the band “The Problems” He is now releasing albums with his band as well as solo endeavors.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Piece of mind and overall sense of self expression. It's where I can express the true extension of my true self.

I leave the dreams for sleeping. I carve a path and follow it to success in various forms.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Education. Knowledge truly is power to do great things like protect and make positive use of natural resources.

Chris Cornell, Big Wreck, Jeff Buckley, Chris Whitley, The Doors, The Clash, The Police, Gary Clark Jr, Johnny Lang, Megadeth,Slayer, the Aristocrats.

What inspires you to make music?

Living and experiencing life. I am most comfortable telling a story that way,

What is the message you want to send with your music?

The message is different each time. Listeners get to translate it how it relates to them.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Limitless and free.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Cloudy, misguided, lazy and entitled. The best way for it to improve is for musicians to understand what it takes to make a career in music. There is no fast track or shortcut.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Patience within myself

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

As often as possible, when I am inspired by a band who is exceptional.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Great songs, good attitude, strong work ethic, small ego, business and marketing knowledge.
