What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

To a larger audience, the artist need to have a good network and marketing to put it there. Sometimes, the larger audience don't like too different music style, in this way for you to spread your own style it is hard to get acceptance from a larger audience. But I think if you keep going and channeling you energy on it, you get there!
