Story

I love the British sense of humor. Some of the funniest and most memorable times that I ever had was getting together with some good friends and watching Monty Python and Benny Hill. So, my sense of humor tends to be off the wall. I love people that have a sense of humor and can laugh at their own foibles, as well as mine. I have mild Parkinson's disease and I kid my bandmates that when we play A whole lot of shaking going they have to add, just look at our bass player. I was born in 1960, in Philadelphia. I have an older sister. Both of my parents are in a better place now, I like to think. Mom was a little Japanese lady that had to learn a whole new language and culture and while doing this, she also learned to be tough. Living in post WW2 America and being Japanese was not Ez. My Dad was also from Philadelphia and grew up on the streets of a very tough east coast very large city during the great depression. Both of my parents were a part of that greatest generation. It's amazing to me that 2 very different people from opposite upbringings, opposite cultures, on opposite ends of the world could ever meet, fall in love and stay together for over 60+ years.....Wow! That still boggles my mind!!! Now to shorten the story: My Dad joined the Army in WW2 and was part of the Occupation force in Japan. He met my Mother then and married her, they had my sister and left japan for the U.S.A. Since my Dad was in the Army, he was stationed all over the place. I came along 6 year after my sister. We lived in France and Germany during the mid-60's and that is where I fell in love with The Beatles. They were so huge over in Europe. My favorite earliest memory: While living in Philadelphia, in 1964 we were over at my Aunt Anna's row house gathered in front off the TV watching The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. That event changed my life forever! In 1976, I bought my first bass guitar for $100, it was a Univox and I strived and struggled self teaching myself to play the thing. I soon felt the need for a better bass guitar and saved up all of my part-time job earnings and I bought a 1977 Rickenbacker 4001s. I desperately wanted that 1970's Rick sound that Macca was getting out of his 1965 4001 Ricky. I never was happy with the sound I got out of it. But, I used it as my maim bass to play out live with and soon I would fall in love with Fender jazz basses and still play a '75 jazz bass today.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Playing music is a release for me personally. Meaning, whenever I play, I concentrate harder, focus longer, listen better. It is like a Sonic Workout of sorts.

What is your music dream?

Well, being 57 soon to be 58 my better days of playing music is well behind me now. So having a Reality Check, I know I will never be in a really very successful musician/singer/songwriter. The talent has waned and the time is closing in on me. So, my current dream is to be the best musician that I can be and just have fun doing it....

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I would modernize and explain what the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution what it now means in terms of the right to bear arms. Taking All assault rifles off of the street and making it truly difficult for a person with questionable motives and mind difficult to obtain and own a firearm. We have the right to drive a car but, in order to drive that car on the public streets, we have to pass a driver's exam. Why can we not have the same for the 2nd Amendment? You want to buy and own a firearm, you must pass a written exam, a psych evaluation, and a physical handling of the firearm before you can even purchase a weapon.
