Marta Mega

Story

This story is about me yet it's primarily about my band. DEODORINA Band from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created in 2016, named after a character from the book of Guimarães Rosa ("Grande Sertão: Veredas"? and who presents its work based on the poetry, songs and partnerships of Marta Mega (voice, guitar and keyboards) and Junior Teixeira (bass and guitar). The musical and poetic content, based on the Indie Rock style, has a strong influence of Secos & Molhados and Beatles and has the special participation of experienced and talented musicians in their live performances and recordings. Its members have successful passages by bands like Calangos Groove, Zero, Zuza Zapata, Floyd Explica, among others. Junior Teixeira, bassist and co-producer of the band, was recognized by the specialized magazine "Bass Player Brasil" in 2017 as the "grooveman" from Rio and had one of his previous musical works produced by the mutant Sergio Dias. Deodorina is a staggering presence on stage and her shows have caused impact and generated admiration with her elaborate poetry and pulsating and intense arrangements. What is music to you? What does it give you?

My way of being there

What is your music dream?

Accomplish musically the ideas I have in mind

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Addressing the fear that seems to build this human-white-male based world and helping to free people from power, greed, ugliness. Life is living.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

that would be Eight Days a Week, first song I ever played

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Beatles, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Secos e Molhados, L A Spinetta, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Paul Weller, Prefab Sprout, Dave Matthews, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, P J Harvey, etc.

What inspires you to make music?

Pagan poetry

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Life is living a pagan poetry

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

Amused

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Well, we need to reinvent a space.

What do you think of Drooble?

I'm optimistic. I think Drooble may be sort of a reinvented space. There are spotifies and deezers and youtubes but for now they're still in a world that for me is sinking, a world where choices are made by CEOs. Let's see where this is going.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

If I depended on music for living, I'd be totally broke.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Yes. Listenning to the (indie) bands and going to the (indie) shows .

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

None. But, I think the most important is not to be a huge star. It's to be honest and say what you really have to say to people. Music is need, it's not an option.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

AJJA Duo, Lakranya, Laranjeletric, Banda Trucco,
