I am a French amateur composer and musician who love music since ever . I play guitar since the age of 17 and keyboards since age of 19 . I started to play keyboard in 1977 after listening the album Meddle from Pink-Floyd (hoping I could recreate the ambiances of the track Echoes with my simple monophonic Kawai synthesizer I bought specially for with my first salary...fool I was at this young age :o) ) Then many years followed full of new musical gears I bought and cool musical experiences of playing with my friends and on my own composing many music. I started to share my compositions for free on the web in 2006 and had good surprise to received nice feedback even far from France where I'm leaving ( with more than 15 millions listening and 2 Millions free downloads of my compositions) . I am influenced by music I like to listen ( I also like Rock prog ) and so these great artists as Jean-Michel JARRE, VANGELIS, YANNI, TANGERINE DREAM , Steve HILLAGE, KITARO, Klaus SCHULZE, PINK FLOYD , Steve ROACH, ...but I think after all these years I could say that I am also influenced... by myself as well :o) . The huge technical progress in computer world associated with many new sophisticated softwares to create music and simulate great sounds (Virtual instruments) associated with my keyboards and guitars allow me to compose many different ambiances that could be classify as , Ambient, Chillout Cosmic Music, New Age, Relaxation, Folk Rock, Electronica. Music is my best personal way to express and share my inspiration and sensibility with others. It give satisfaction to me and it's allow to learn patience and concentration without particular pressure for me as a none professional musician.
The good thing when you are amateur musician like me is that you don't need really to have a specific music dream ... you just have to play like in a dream all the time :o)
Do you mean with a powerful magic wand :o) ? Eradicate immediately all types of corruption everywhere in the world as it's the real plague of our planet generating too much misery mainly in countries where people would need more human support than wars and destruction.We see everyday now on the news where we go if nothing change
The song Echoes from the album Meddle from Pink-Floyd. This song was permanently played on my turntable during a long period when I was a teenager and definitely made me plays keyboards and brought to me a great interest for the synthesizers to try generate Spacey sounds also myself.
Difficult as I like plenty of them but I can give you some of my preference of course : PORCUPINE TREE ( Steve Wilson is a genius composer musician and singer -Albums In Absentia and Deadwing ) SYLVAN ( I like this Rock Prog German band particularly their concept album Posthumous Silence..a must to have) PENDRAGON ( Good Rock Prog band , I recommend their album "Not of this World" ..so good music and sound ) MARILLION ( Their album Marble have my preference ) GENESIS ( Their album Selling England by the pound turned very often on my turntable in 1972 when they launched it ;o) PINK FLOYD ( Albums Meddle and Dark side of the Moon of course ) TANGERINE DREAM (Albums Startosfear, Rubycon, Ricochet,Force majeure ...) When it's keyboards first I would say the sounds and rhythms I discover and try with the maxi possibilities of combinations of sounds with the VSTI (virtual instruments) i have inside my computer in combination with sounds of my keyboards. When it's guitar first then it's the nicest possible combinations of chords and harmony that guide and help to find a melody and rhythm. Sometime (more rarely ) it could be also just a nice picture or drawing that I will use after purposely to illustrate the finished music when upload on line .
Just relax yourself, seat on a good armchair or lying on your bed put your headphones on your head at proper level and just play some Patroux music while doing anything else you like ...it should relax you even more :o)) So as you see no particular serious message ...in fact Yes I have only one message in my composition Dreaming of a Magic world where I sing throw a vocoder and so will probably upload here soon as I just notice I got just the number of necessary Karma to do this :o)
Joker please as my audience is just on the web since 12 years ...But in the past I did once a Live performance in front of 500 people with a friend of mine (just both of us ) . Honestly we were really nervous but super ready as well ( no presets at this time so I had a lot of changes to set on my synthesizers between each of his song introduction so we practiced everyday after work during 2 weeks to prepare this live session) . Good thing is the public was really receptive and positive with us and liked the whole session we did and even if we were just the first set before a well know band they tried to keep us on the scene and asked for more :o) And so we played 1 song extra for them ( that we also prepared in case of :o)
Since many people are able now to share their own musics on the web as far they have a computer and internet access (so many people ) the offer is really enormous . But even if we are happy now to discover music we would certainly never heard years ago without internet , we see that still only proper quality music with good promotion ( and additional live jigs as a +) is sorting the best from the worse. Now what could be improved it's hard to says but maybe if you mean on the music platforms I would say enlarge a bit more the possibility of genres selections as often we have no possibility to select ambient, newage, easylistening or similar , and generally we don't know what genre select to put ourselves when we play music genre like Vangelis , Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, Kitaro, Yanni, Steve Roach ( and we are more than people think in fact in that case ) I selected myself Electronic here but maybe not ideal to fit with the music I play. By the way I seen that 3 emplacements are free in your genres selection (on your chart page ) so maybe ....;o)
I uploaded already my music a bit everywhere since 2006 when it became possible on blogs first without obligation to invest a ton of money to make our own site to share with others. Reason is because i wished my music to be mainly free ( still now ) for more audience with people, and doing it for my pleasure but also to get feedback, comments, advice, coop on line , and also as musicians like the most of course some fans, recognition and nice reviews :o). I discovered your site Drooble lately only on Nov.2018 by surfing on the web and regret honestly that it was not sooner. Congratulations and respect as it is for me the nicest platform since a very long time and I'm really happy to spend my time discover the others musicians in good ambiance and with real reactivity with you and other people here. The Karma concept is not only a nice cool name, but also a genius idea in many ways .It's works well and very addictive as we keep wanted to have more Karma to have possibility to use it here ah ah...and so discover and share more for it .Well done. If I'm composing on my computer and the Electricity cut down while I forgot to save my work yes in that case it's really frustrating ...but honestly it's very very rare were we leave ;o) For the rest it's ok as I am an happy none professional musician like I said above so ...no pressure just pleasure :o)
As I'm leaving in a small city with no really local scene so I spend most of my free time composing and playing music myself in my little home studio and share on line.
I already had this question on the past and so my response will be more or less the same here but only concerning music on line as I have no serious scene or live experience (just a few jigs in the past) Whatever we play as a musician we can share now our own music on Internet, but I always try to impose myself to respect the listeners and care about uploading as good quality music as possible (no glitches, scratches, poor sound, white noise, mono music, blank space at start or end of our tracks, unless it's part of composition itself :o)) and better stay humble. In that way , and if our music is pleasant enough ,we could hope have some recognition from listeners and increase numbers of our fans and downloads.
