26 year old rapper, producer and illustrator King Lutendo is Platoon's latest South African signee. Born to a musical Venda family, he was raised with a love for the arts. Having studied design and illustration,he imbues his music with an arresting visual aesthetic. His take on hip hop is experimental, using sounds not commonly associated with the genre INCLUDING.... He describes himself as alternative and occupies a space built around his Venda Heritage. His brand has reverberated with sites such as Redbull Music, Hype Magazine and Nusoulhub Radio. This is due to his cinematically structured music which includes the 9;Electric Jungles; and ;Village Astrology; EPs which are abstract, conceptual and percussive bodies of work. Often described as a one man band, King Lutendo writes, composes, produces and engineers all his music. His rapping is still the cornerstone of his brand as his debut album ;MAVU; proves.
