Hello, my name is Kara Brusven! Welcome to my channel! I am a musician in MN that plays guitar, piano, ukulele, and sings. I also mix, produce, compose, arrange, and teach. This channel is where I share a lot of my content that I use for gigs and also display various projects that I am working on with other musicians. If you are looking for someone to work with in any of the areas I have mentioned, feel free to reach out through my email or follow me on my social media included below.?? Choose to have a wonderful day and stay musical! ??????
Music gives me a way to connect with others and provides a way for others to feel understood in their specific life circumstances. For me, music is a way to connect with myself and the people around me.
I would absolutely love to be a musician that is extremely competent in a variety of genres, and it able to make a full-time living as a performer.
I would start with investing in the people closest to me and expanding from there. Life is built on relationships and nothing is truly achieved without the primary foundation of gaining an understanding of those around you.
"Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. It was the first time I was featured at a recital on guitar.
Oof that's a super tough question. For classical guitar, I would say Ana Vidovic and Christopher Parkening. Pat Metheny, Pat Martino, and Joe Pass for Jazz. I also love Pomplamoose, Covet, Tenth Avenue North, Poor Bishop Hooper, Downhere, Skillet, Jeff Beck, Victor Wooten, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and the list goes on forever!
The people in my life, my own life experiences, and just the ability to always be learning something new from music.
I want to send a message to people that lets them know that they are understood and not alone in whatever life circumstances they are in both happy and disappointing. Everyone has a desire to belong and I want to create that sense of belonging in my music.
I am usually super excited and thrive off of the energy that I get from the audience and that I can give to them. There are usually some nerves as well, but I usually prefer being a bit nervous because it almost prepares me to play better.
The musician's reality today is having to know and be competent in a variety of aspects in the industry without much promise of a stable living. I feel like there is a lot of input on the musician's end for very little promise of a sustainable output. Personally, I believe that there needs to be more established forms of payment for musicians and more opportunities for musicians to gain access to benefits such as health insurance. There should also be less of an expectation for musician's to do everything and be amazing at all of it. We are all only human.
I really like it so far! It feels like a nice platform for me as a musician and I feel like I will have the opportunity to make good use of the platform.
The overwhelming demand of my time, energy, and abilities with the expectation that I will just do it for free or because it's just fun. Music is fun, but it is also my career. When I am hired to do something I expect to be treated as a professional and not a hobbyist.
I do. I always make a point to go to at least one live show a week. I also support my fellow musicians through social media and try to help out when I can at their performances.
They should be relatable and be able to stay informed about current trends that would impact their career indirectly or directly. They should also be genuine and consistent in the values that they present to their fans.
Poor Bishop Hooper is really good. So is Yvette Young and Polyphia. Haha those are the most random ones I could think of!
