What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is everything to me. It’s like air. I’m a creative writing major, so words and how they are impactful is super important to me. Music gives me healing too which is why I feel the need to write music of my own for others!

What is your music dream?

My music dream is to be able to write music that heals or helps or inspires others. Hearing your own lyrics being sung back to you would be a beautiful experience to have one day. But all I can hope for is that I bring positive change with my music.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

I would start with peoples awareness. Everyone is so busy nowadays and distracted. Somebody has to be the one to try and “wake up” everyone, so that they can not only see reality for what it truly is, but see themselves for who they truly are.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Probably something by Evanescence or Kelly Clarkson, or Shania Twain. All strong female vocal leads. I was always singing their songs as loud as I could in long drives with my mom as a young girl, and it’s some of my happiest musical memories too.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

My favorite band is The 1975 for how they use their platform to talk about important things, and for how meaningful their lyrics are. I appreciate any artist or band that writes about what matters, and not just about drugs or cheating or partying it up. Like, for example, how The Beatles and Queen wrote about the human experience.

What inspires you to make music?

What inspires me to make music is people. No matter what my mood is— I’m constantly motivated to help others. My music is only important to me because it has the potential to be listened to and felt. I’m just very inspired to “move” or “shift” something inside someone else, and make them see the world just a bit more different.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

The message id like to send in my music is authenticity. Not only is it important to be your authentic self always, but it’s important to live authentically too. You don’t always have to rely on others for everything, there is authenticity all around us in nature, and music itself is authentic. Nothing have a definitive meaning or purpose because we shape its meaning ! This opens the doors for life in some people because they begin to realize if everything’s unique, then they have a divine control over their life that they’ve never seen before.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I feel free. I also feel like I’m directing a movement. Like that in the moments I’m performing, I feel like I’m impacting something bigger than myself. It almost feels spiritual.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Oh boy, yes. Especially some pop and rap I feel glamorizes the wrong ideals today. I do hope that the methods of creativity change overtime too because we don’t often realize what is being promoted in the underscore of some lyrics.

What do you think of Drooble?

I’m excited to see if this program works because I’ve tried a lot of things to have no sucesss turn out. I enjoy this setup though!

What frustrates you most as a musician?

What frustrates me the most is my perfectionism because I’m always being tough on myself, and sometimes, I do so when I shouldn’t. I’d say the most frustrating things is getting things started, like a band, and finding other like minded individuals.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

Yes, I go to shows a lot around me, or I try to. I go to college, so it’s a bit busy for me during the week at times. I go to the Chance a lot and other small bar venues as well around the New York area or Danbury.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Just openness. The ability to make connections with anyone just because of pure intentions. A personality will get you far because you learn to make stronger connections with those that enjoy your music too, and it can attract new fans.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Moose blood, Dodie, Delta Rae, and Russo :)
