Emberfly

Story

Started in the early 90’s with a college buddy having every intention of getting good at the craft, making it marketable, and getting music out there to be heard. Through many hiatuses and shifting gears I can’t help but explore musical tangents. My style has changed as things do in life, improving on what I had previously learned. There’s really no incredible evolutionary tale to tell.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music has always been therapeutic for me, giving me a way to express what can’t be put in to words. I’m a ‘fly by the seat of my pants’ recording songwriter dabbling in various electronic genres. I let my moods influence me and make time for indulgence when inspiration comes. Music and it’s creation is a gift that must be experienced, not taken for granted.

What is your music dream?

Just to get really good at it. Also to get a few tracks in a film or other form of visual media. Ultimately, I’d love to score a film.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Civilized conduct.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Genetic Engineering - OMD

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Admirably... Skinny Puppy, OMD, Covenant, Lisa Gerrard, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Prince.

What inspires you to make music?

Moods, visuals.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

No messages. Apply to it whatever YOU feel.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I don’t perform my own creations. I’m too skeptical of its interest factor as a performance. But I did play in a jazz band! It was exhilarating when the band is hot!

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Today’s music is too... plastic. I’m talking about mainstream top 40. It’s become more of a product than an art. Too much of it lacks feeling.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far it’s a great platform... I am eager to see what all it has to offer.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Finding motivation.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I don’t get out much, or at all.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Hmmm... that’s hard. Luck? Perseverance?

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.
