Johnny Jaymez

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music is my drug of choice, I'm not at ease unless I'm either writing, recording or mixing. I live for it.

What is your music dream?

To be heard.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Make politics illegal.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

There's so many, it would be both impossible and not appropriate to choose - But if I did have to choose, it'd probably be anything by Abba!

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

I love Darren Hayes from Savage Garden. I love how his tone flows through a song at ease and I'm in love with his falsetto.

What inspires you to make music?

The freedom to express anything you feel at the time without any limits or boundaries.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

That you can be you, and that's all you need to be. Don't change for anyone to try and fit in.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

I love it, I feel so much energy and love and it's the best part of doing what I do.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

For those high up in the industry to be more nicer to the hand that feeds them.

What do you think of Drooble?

Amazing, it gives artists so much freedom to share their tracks in a way that I've never seen before.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

People wanting so much from you but not willing to give much back in return. I've learnt not to be so giving when it comes to collaborations and always try to remember that it should be 50/50.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I try too. I try to go to as many concerts and shows as I can but sometimes life just gets in the way!

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Determination, and strong material.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

I love Charlotte OC, she is so talented and magical.
