Hello everyone, John Floy here. Been playing guitar since I was a little kid. Throughout my life I have played in several bands and recorded about 4 solo albums on my own. Mainly instrumental guitar works, I like to sit in my home studio and just layer tracks until I come up with something I like. Like many of you know sometimes you get lucky and record something special. I have posted some of those lucky tracks on here. Hope everyone enjoys. I have, as of, April 2019 joined a new band called "Channel 3". You can visit our website at www.ch3bandokc.com to find out where we are playing and to hear our music. It’s an escape, I have been hooked listening and playing music since I was a little kid. It gives me hope when I’m down, happiness, sadness, and everything in between.
Of course when I was younger I wanted to be in a rock band and see the world. Well that didn’t happen so I went to college and earned a degree and now work as a software engineer. At this stage on in life I am just happy writing, playing, and recording.
Take corporate and special interest money out of politics, I think that will solve a lot of issues and let the peoples voices be truly heard by the government. Feel the hungry, house the homeless, heal the sick...I know it sounds cheesy but that is where i'd start.
A Day In The Life by The Beatles, remember hearing that and just loved the melody.
Pink Floyd, David Gilmour has a big influence on my playing style. I like how he can take a few amount of notes and make them sound so melodic. Steavy Ray Vaughan got me playing blues for sure, and I also am a sucker for some 80s era Eric Clapton as well.
My mood to be honest, sometimes I feel creative and just get lucky and record something good. Sometimes I hear a song in my head and try to recreate it, can be tricky for sure.
I want it to take the listener to the same place I am when I am recording it. Sometimes I forget where I am, and that's a great feeling.
Very nervous, I can do it and have done it many times. I usually just have to suck it up and just go out there and play. After the first few songs I usually relax and perform better.
I think with the advent of the internet and independent artist sites such as Drooble, we are able to listen to even more independent artist now. Not being held back by major recording labels. I have discovered some great new artists this way. My main issue with pop music that is on the radio and everywhere is that it all sounds the same.
Great platform, like the karma system. I find myself hanging out here quite a bit discovering new artist. Great site.
The recording process, i am by no means a sound engineer. But I sit there in garageband adding tracks and mixing, sometimes I get lucky and get a good mix and sometimes I struggle with it. Spending more time fiddling with that than actually playing and recording.
I play in a local rock band called "Channel 3" here in Oklahoma City. We play about 1 gig a month which is the perfect amount for me. Channel 3 can be found at www.ch3bandokc.com As a fan we play with alot of local artist so we get to know them and support their music as well.
Be honest with yourself and just play
Too many to note to be honest, I have my playlist already pretty full of some great artist I have heard on Drooble. I like all genres so it's nice to change it up and get the kind of variety available on this platform.
