I seem to get into bands with guys who either don't want to play gigs, or use the practice sessions as a period of drug or alcohol use. That stuff generally interferes with my playing. Some guys have great songs, and I prefer doing original material, but an original band name might be a good idea. Some guys have insisted on using names like "Black Rose" or "Rolling Thunder" when there is already an international touring act with that name. I've thought it might be fun to do an act with a load of Scifi songs and get on the Scifi Con circuit. A jam band in the Dead/Phish vein would be fun too. I like to build my own gear, mainly instruments and speaker cabinets. I'd be open to a wide range of musical styles, but no Rap stuff. Recently I've had an idea for developing a participatory event similar to a drum circle with other instruments and directed facilitation designed to induce trance states in the participants as an experiment in altering the personal quantum universe of the participants to one that is more beneficial.
