Welcome! My name is Jimmy Figueras. I was born in Los Angeles, California in 1978. As a child of the '80s in Southern California, I grew up listening to music mostly played in movies and on the Disney channel. At the age of 10, I moved with my parents to Costa Rica, where I discovered such amazing and beautiful music in Spanish and other languages. I started to play the keyboard by ear at the age of 13 and never stopped since. In 1998 I was admitted to the piano program at the National University of Costa Rica, where I received classical and tonal harmony but realized that classical music/piano did not resonate with me, so I started to discover other styles of music beginning with jazz. I returned to the United States in 2004 and currently live in Indian Land, South Carolina. Even though I have not uploaded any music here on Drooble yet, I intend to soon as I've upgraded my gear. ¡Bienvenidos! Mi nombre es Jimmy Figueras. Nací en Los Angeles, California en 1978. Como niño de los 80 en el sur de California, crecí escuchando música en películas y en el canal de Disney. A la edad de 10 años me mudé con mis padres a Costa Rica, donde descubrí una música tan increíble y hermosa en español y en otros idiomas. Empecé a tocar el teclado de oído a la edad de 13 años y no he parado desde entonces. En 1998 ingresé al programa de piano clásico en la Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, donde recibí armonía tonal pero me di cuenta de que la música clásica no me resonaba para dedicarme a ella, así que comencé a descubrir otros estilos de música comenzando con el jazz. Regresé a los Estados Unidos en 2004 y actualmente vivo en Indian Land, Carolina del Sur. Aunque todavía no he subido música aquí en Drooble, tengo la intención de hacerlo pronto, ya que tengo nuevo equipo.
Music is something that cannot be expressed in words, it goes beyond the word "art". It is something to be shared with others (other musicians and audience included) and not be seen as a machine-like entity, a business, or a sport to compete against or hate each other. I don't feel that music is something that can be expressed in a sentence or with words, even if it's music with lyrics. However, any kind of music can convey beauty, peace, joy, love and so many wonderful things. Siento que la música es algo que no se puede expresar con palabras (aunque sea una canción con letra), pero cualquier tipo de música transmite belleza, paz, alegría, amor y muchas otras cosas maravillosas.
I feel I have music to share with the audience/world. Siento que tengo musica que compartir con el publico/mundo.
Every musician's reality is different, therefore I cannot speak for them. However, if you're referring to the music industry noawadays. that is something that has been created by the masses, which is is something I can't change. I can only create the music that resonates with me and share it with the world by seeing music as an art form and something fun by creating and playing music that comes from feeling and not thinking or analyzing. La realidad de cada músico es diferente, por lo tanto, no puedo hablar por todos los músicos. Not hearing enough "organic" music created nowadays on the radio and musicians seeing music as a machine-like entity, a computer science, a business and a sport. No escuchar suficiente música "orgánica" hoy en día en la radio y que muchos músicos ven a la música como una máquina, ciencia, un negocio y un deporte.
I'm grateful that there is a music scene where I live. I go to see bands I like on weekends and during music festival seasons. Estoy agradecido de que hay grupos y musicos cerca de donde vivo y escucho de los que me gustan en los fines de semana durante la temporada de festivales.
