Started playing the guitar when wheels were still made of stone and were square and the guitar doubled up as a dinosaur defense mechanism :-) Seriously though been playing guitar since the age of 7 (52 now - soon to be 53) and played in a few bands in my teenage years before marriage and children (not to mention work) became more important. In the past year I have taken up my music again along with a new Fender Telecaster and some home recording hardware/software so I can now annoy the whole world with my musical attempts - you have been warned (ha ha). Glad to be part of the Drooble community and look forward to hearing all of you like minded up and coming musicians
Music is a way to express yourself which is unique to the individual. It can make you smile or cry, give you hope or remind you of past failures, brings love or loves lost but most importantly no one can tell you how to feel - express yourself however you want.
To leave behind music that will be played long after I'm gone
The human race. Recreate it without greed and selfishness
Caroline by Status Quo. Was the first song I picked a guitar up to and tried to play at the age of 8
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, Crowded House & Status Quo (pre 1978)
The way I feel when I listen to other artists and play their songs
Anyone can do it
Elated and honoured
I really hope this genre of samplers stops soon - it is not music to me but music technology.
It is a great platform that is purely for music and musicians and is the only place I know where you can be heard and give and receive advice in the one place
Old age - my fingers don't work as fast as they used to, oh and not being able to memorise songs/chords as well as I used to
Not as much as I should but try and go to see local up and coming bands when I get time (which unfortunately isn't much)
Be true to yourself, express your own feelings and not what you hope will make you the most famous/money
Maybe heard of but Runrig (Scottish folk rock band), BAP (German rock band), Van Der Graf Generator, Capercaillie (Scottish Gaelic folk band)
