The band is born in Falconara Marittima Ancona Italy in 1985, when high school classmates Marco, Gianluca, Giovanni, Lucio and Paolo join to play some thrash metal. Hydra records 5 demo tapes from 1988 to 1994 playing thrash metal, influenced by bands like Slayer and Metallica. After some line up changes and a name change to Aydra in 1993, the band records a mini cd (Psycho Pain Control) in 1996. In 1997 the last founding member Giovanni leaves the band, and Aydra goes on playing some more technical death metal. In 2008 Hydra founders join again to play new songs. Heaven's Tree and Darkchild are the new albums so far, after the reunion.
