Music is essential to life overall to calm the anxious mind, stimulate the soul to new creative heights in all walks of life, as an outlet for aggression, as a means to cry with joy or sadness, or dry away tears with a refreshing happiness of mind. Music gives me continued new reasons to create, inspire, work and live!

Anything goes - very little structure to the business. Most are just making it up moment by moment, instead of having a concrete plan that can potentially result in added fame or fortune. It's highly improbable such a plan exists, or everyone would be using it. (In earlier times, there was a fairly simple plan musicians used: Get a band together; rehearse & record an original 4-song demo; shop the demo to record companies to see if one of them wants to sign/sponsor you; play live shows and invite record company A&R people to come see you, and evaluate if they'd like to sign/develop you into a band for national/international release.) There is a vast number of "instrument-owners" and hobbyist's that classify themselves as musicians, muddying the water for those who have dedicated their life to working in the music business. An improvement would be a litmus test to determine true, dedicated musicians from said hobbyist's, but that is an impossibility.
Very good website for musicians and a great place for music promotion!
The lack of professionalism in bookers at venues.
I'm usually gigging at clubs, restaurants and venues on the same nights other musicians are gigging, so I don't go out much on a spectator basis.
Internet savvy, marketing skills, drive, discipline, dedication to songwriting, recording skills, constantly hustling gigs and playing live shows.
