Inspired by both energetic punk rock and pop punk classic acts, Rome, Italy quartet Hometown Heroes formed in 2016. The founding lineup named"High Effect" included vocalist and guitarist Riccardo Riva, lead guitarist Lorenzo Marchetti, bassist Francesco Russo and drummer Tiziano De Mitro. Lorenzo and Tiziano left the band in 2017, and were replaced by Lorenzo Tuzi and Gilberto Goracci. The band decided to change his name in Hometown Heroes and managed to release an homemade EP called "High Effect" in october 2017. They released their first album "First Things First" on 16 March 2018, teased by the single "Life Anthem".
