Story

From my Doodles 2020 notes: I believe that we're all antennae that can receive messages from the universe. Signals arrive and sometimes we notice, sometimes we don't. In my personal experience, I have seen how a song idea - or even part of one can arrive from nowhere. I've learned to tune in to these signals, to honor them, and occasionally to capture them. This collection of doodles includes some of these signals that arrived while I worked on Song-A-Day projects (songaday.netscrap.com) over the past few years. Each piece is an improvisation, each is captured live, each is raw and rough. A brief note on these recordings: all sounds come from a Hondo from the 80s, played through a Box of Rock, a Mel9, and a looping pedal. That quaint drum sound comes from the looping pedal too. I recorded these with little Fender amp going through whatever mic was handy. As a bonus you'll hear a creaking chair, a breath, the click of a pedal, the static of a cheap cable, maybe someone doing dishes... file under: lo-fi Connect with Chris and his projects: doubleplusalright.com songaday.netscrap.com manateetheband.bandcamp.com blert.bandcamp.com
