River Bear

I am a guy who writes all lyrics and plays instruments and engineers... But, I would love to do a project with someone.... So, I suppose I am a bit quiet. I am told my people skills are sadly lacking. I had a nearly 40 year stint at Boeing. I taught Trigonometry and was a machinist. I have run most machine shop items, as well as a water jet and lasers. I build my own computers and run Linux on them. I play actually quite a few instruments, which is evidenced by my music. I am also a bit of an electronic tinkerer. I engineer and produce all my own music. I have a studio at home that is populated by area musicians at times. My Step father was Full blood Colville. Myself, I am Cherokee, Irish and Latvian. Anything else, just ask. this Bear does not bite very often. Okay okay, I'm not really a bear, but an old guy who thinks like a bear... I forgot to say I am a fractal artist as well and I write Science fiction books.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

It gives me the ability to escape life, while being able to create something that hopefully someone will like.

What is your music dream?

I would love to sell a song that gets played by artists. I have been in bands and a solo artist as well, but hearing someone that could really do them justice would be nice.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Global domination...wait! I mean, we as a people need to care about each other more.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Bad to me... I think it's a British invasion song

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Poco, The Eagles, Jackson Browne.... too many to mention

What inspires you to make music?

I was bitten by the creative bug at 14. I need to make music to quiet the noise in my head. I'm still going after 40 plus years.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

I do a few protest songs... the rest are just for enjoyment

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

It varies. Some audiences are really good listeners and I like those best. I did the bar scene and it is rather noisy and confused, I also did the coffee shop scene and rather liked that.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I see there is little money for the artist. I see the politicians in the business and the lawyers taking the lion's share and that is just not right.

What do you think of Drooble?

So far, I am enjoying it very much. This is a great community.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

Oh boy..... a bunch of things.. I like people to be able to do their thing, make that music. Don't wait for someone else to do it... And don't take credit for something someone else did.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I do when I can

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

The ability to do something on their own. These days you have to do it all.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Zack Clark is a great new artist. Of course, I am hearing so much good music here I can't believe it. Man....
