FOLU

Story

FOLU is a unique, Afrobeats DJ/Producer from Bristol, UK. Extremely catchy afrobeats, afrohouse and amapiano tracks are constantly being released by this prolific talent. He was raised in Lagos, Nigeria and has lived in the UK since 1997. He gets his inspiration from all kinds of genres ranging from classic afrobeat masterpieces by Fela Kuti to Indie music (Yeah Yeah Yeahs/MGMT). But he is particularly inspired by the modern Naija afrobeats scene (Asake, Bella Shmurda, Naira Marley) and the thriving South African Amapiano scene (Kabza De Small, Musa Keys. Villasoul). FOLU's latest releases include catchy remixes of modern classics by Asake and Burna Boy (Sungba) and Portable and Olamide (Zazoo), as well as playful edits of pop classics by Michael Jackson (Remember the time) and TLC (No scrubs). After years DJing as part of Bristol duo Area Boys, he has started producing his own tracks and doing blistering solo sets focusing on afrobeats, afrohouse and amapiano. FOLU records 'FOLU'S afrobeats takeover' for Bristol's BCFM radio which goes out every Thursday at 6pm, repeated Friday nights at 10pm.
