FOLU

Story

FOLU is a unique Afrobeats producer/DJ from Bristol. Extremely catchy afrobeats, afrohouse and electrobeats tracks are constantly being released by this prolific talent. He was raised in Lagos, Nigeria and has lived in the UK since 1997. He gets his inspiration from all kinds of genres ranging from classic afrobeat masterpieces by Fela Kuti to Indie (Yeah Yeah Yeahs/MGMT). But he is particularly inspired by the modern Naija afrobeats scene, including Rexxie, Qdot, Slimcase and many more! His 2nd EP, O GA (Higher), illustrates his love of different genres. Moonlight is an amapiano-inspired remix of a single by newly signed afrofusion outfit from Exeter, Dakar Audio Club, and Overtime was made while on holiday at the seaside in the UK. Each track blends euphoric electro-inspired melodies with classic African rhythms and percussion. His releases are accompanied by spellbinding artwork by talented visual artist Karen Louise Dawe. After years DJing as part of Bristol duo Area Boys, he has started producing his own tracks and doing blistering sets focusing on afrobeats, afrohouse and afropop, while he hones his sound and craft!
