What is music to you? What does it give you?

At the risk of sounding completely cliché, I think that music is primarily a way of expression. It doesn't only show what somebody has to say, but also reveals what the listener is feeling. Who hasn't tuned a particular soundtrack to their morning, an event , a trip or even a person? Music is always there for me and it enhanced me to meet some of my best friends.

What is your music dream?

Leaving aside the impossible ones (such as watching live the The Three Tenors at La Scala Theatre in Milan, jam with Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong or have a song dedicated by Freddie Mercury), I can say I already have fulfilled my music dream: I traveled to Europe to see my favorite band, Die Toten Hosen, and followed them in a road trip with my friends around Poland where I enjoyed 5 small concerts in a week in different cities. I can't describe how amazing that was. So many memories, beers and joy. We could even joined the band at after parties! Sure there's other dreams too, but I doubt they could surpass that experience.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Hmm...that's a toughie! I believe things would get better if we could guarantee equal access to education and health to everybody. If thanks to education we become more tolerant, we can begin to understand each other. Also, travel more, regret less!

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Disney soundtracks, for sure, as well as local folk music which my family was very fond of. Queen was also pretty big in my childhood. My aunt used to say that as a toddler, I've bubbled the lyrics of "Radio Gaga".

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

Die Toten Hosen, Faith No More, Queen, Ella Fitzgerald at the the very top.

What inspires you to make music?

I'm not currently composing, but when I did it, it was mostly a very intimate way to put music and lyrics to how I felt regards someone. I don't recall if anybody ever heard my songs. It was just one of those things I liked to keep for my self, you know? ;)

What is the message you want to send with your music?

If music had a message, it's not the one who sends it who decides what to say. I think it's more the listener who gives meaning or appropriates that message. A million people could listen to a song and understand a million different things. The meaning is based on our experiences, feelings, likes, dislikes, passions, people we love, the ones we miss... it's so huge that it is completely unmeasurable.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

NERVOUS. My voice gets all squeaky and nasal, like a "church" singer. Well, maybe it's not that bad, but I feel way more confortable jamming with friends that in front of an audience.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

I think that even though in the last decade Internet has allowed musicians to expand their range, it has also set a pretty difficult challenge for them, as it has modified the way in which they introduce their music to the world. Twenty years ago, even fifteen, the only way for people to know "unmainstream"artists was going to a bar, have a drink and watch a concert. Maybe, get a tape from a friend recorded in extremely poor conditions, but that was about it. Once you had acquired certain recognition, your name was almost graved in stone. Nowadays, networks are wider and options endless, which means it's easier to reach a larger audience, but also harder to call their attention. What it would have been original and creative, it's probably already a trend. In my opinion, musicians should use all available tools to find a unique sound and focus on the quality of their production.

What do you think of Drooble?

I have recently joined Drooble thanks to a friend (thank you, Max!) and I must say I'm completely thrilled with the concept. I never thought there were that many talented musicians and I'm impressed with the quality of the works I listen to every day. Wonderful idea, keep it up!!!

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The lack of broadcasting channels and financial support are maybe the most common problems musicians face nowadays. "Patience, my young Padawan" and drooble on! ;)

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

I usually go to concerts in small clubs and now and then I find very interesting bands. Live music has a vibe impossible to beat.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

Persistency to work harder and harder and find that indistinctive unique sound that would suit their art.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.

Mmh... Ministri! They are an italian alternative rock band from Rome. They are pretty well known over there, if you like that kind of music, of course.
