Faith Head

Story

Faith Head is an alternative / metal band from Chattanooga, TN. Faith Head formed in 2016 and has performed regionally, nationally and on television. The band will share the stage with anyone and play almost anywhere. Musically compared to the likes of Soundgarden to Tool, the band claims no specific genre and refuses to be categorized. Lyrically the music addresses religion, cultural polarization and a rotting moral landscape in order to point to hope. Live Faith Head is a straight-up rock show without backing tracks to give the audience a pure, raw live performance with all its unpredictability. Faith Head’s second album “Genesys” was released worldwide on April 15, 2019. The album reflects much of what they see happening in the world today. Is it the beginning of the end or just a dress rehearsal for Armageddon? The music is the band’s response to culture and social media as they see the system breaking down and people becoming more polarized. Faith Head debuted at the Ignite Festival in Meadville, PA in 2018 and Nehemiah Fest in Kansas City, MO in September 2018. The band released their debut album “Are you a Faith Head?” on December 2016 and landed at #6 on Metal Pulse Radio's Top 10 album of the Year in 2016. In 2017 Faith Head was nominated by Independent Artist Magazine for Best Male Artist of the year. The band was featured in the documentary "Metal Missionaries" in September 2017. The group also toured on the southeast leg of The Extreme Tour in 2017. The band was also the first hard rock act to perform at the Gospel Spin Awards in October 2017.

What is music to you? What does it give you?

Music for us is an outlet as well as a tool to spread the message of Jesus Christ. Music is the one thing that bypasses the brain and goes straight to your heart. Music can be a powerful force of change and hopefully we will always use it for good.

What is your music dream?

Our dream/goal is that Faith Head will becoming a self sustaining music ministry. No delusions of grandeur but for Faith Head to be able to continue to make music on our own terms and reach as many people with it as possible.

If you could change the world - what would you start with?

Ourselves.

Which is the most memorable song from your childhood?

Too many to mention.

Who are your favorite musical artists or bands?

As a group our tastes are quite eclectic and pull from many genres. We love many of the independent artists we've played with .. Arms of Mercy, Never Mind the Damage, 3 Days Under, Daze of Broken Fate, With Bravado .. we enjoyed played with some other genre artists like Ron Jon, The Surrendering, B-Wise, Natural Habitz .. we'll share a stage with anyone.

What inspires you to make music?

Not to sound cliche but our inspiration comes from God, the things we see happening in culture and our lives.

What is the message you want to send with your music?

Our message is that there is hope, you are loved and your life has a purpose. That hope is found in Jesus Christ and that everything that has happened isn't by chance.

How do you feel when you perform in front of an audience?

When the moment is right there is nothing like a live performance. It is a spiritual experience when you and the audience are connected as one in spirit and song. Its the beauty of the transcendence of music.

How do you see the musicians’ reality nowadays? What could be improved?

Its a bleak future for the starving musician until a new business model for the industry happens. There doesn't seem to be any money for new and emerging artists. There is no respect for music. As individuals we need to rekindle the the experience of buying music again.

What do you think of Drooble?

We are curious to see how well it works.

What frustrates you most as a musician?

The fact that we have to be business people as well as contract lawyers instead of just being musicians and song writers. In the music industry, money moves fast and if you aren't savvy it can go out of your pocket as fast it went it. Developing revenue streams seems to become a greater focus than creating music.

Do you support your local scene as a fan? How?

We share the music and talk about the bands we share and stage with and support them.

What qualities should a musician nowadays have in order to get their music heard by a larger audience?

In addition to being business manager and a contract lawyer, musician have to learn to be savvy marketers as well. Learn which social media platforms works for you and stick to that one instead of being on all of them equally. Independent artists/musicians need to learn to work together. Its not as competitive as it used to be. More and more bands/artists are starting to figure out that networking and supporting each other is the only way to survive. Because all the labels have you locked out of the major festivals and venues in most of the markets, you have be creative to make performances worth attending. Due to the apathy toward buying music, it doesn't seem to spill over in live performances as well.

Share some awesome artists that we’ve never heard of.
